I’ve been betting poker now for about five years, I have bet cards my entire life beginning with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various forms of Brag and basic random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head game. I used to usually win, whatever casino game we were wagering and although I liked to call it skill, it was really hard to warrant considering the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was pleased to accept I was having an extended run of luck.
Then came Poker, or a lot more importantly Texas holdem Poker, made famous by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since grown into one of the largest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is totally the new black, it is super awesome with many of the world’s top celebs racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick via the TV channels nowadays and you’ll be able to not escape from poker, and certainly there’s the fabled WSOP, the Holy Grail and Mecca all combined into one for each single gambler.
So with all of this new discovered popularity, with so a lot of Tv programmes dedicated to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the leading minds on poker, when are men and women going to learn that this casino game is all about position!?
Perhaps I ought to not get so worked up about this, after all the far more persons who wrestle with the delicate techniques and approaches required for succeeding regularly at Hold’em, the better it’s for everyone else, right? I mean, if they cannot be troubled to read all of the accessible information about why location is so important, why must we bother? We ought to just be happy there is another fish at the table!
It is true, we must not reward inactivity with guidance and support. However, I liken this to a welcoming casino game of football. Granted the stakes aren’t so good, except when you notice a player struggling, you support them, provide them some advice, ultimately showing them a method to get pleasure from, like and be thankful for the game as much as you. I’m calling on all home players to do a similar thing with their poker friends who haven’t quite grasped the nuances of playing position. Support them to grow their respect for the game. Certainly, do not attempt to try this one in your neighborhood casino, the sharks won’t take pleasure in you instructing their meal how to swim!
