NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he liked betting on numerous card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games while playing his father. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little while and moved away to New York to play some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he played extensive hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He believed he possibly could better his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus even more on the game.
The definite improvement in his abilities happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest gamblers would often challenge each other. He was able to access some of the foremost minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would sharpen his strategic thinking abilities. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of No-Limit holdem.
Howard also helped his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the strongest women players the poker world ever. Howard headed to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the subsequent decade. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
