Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
