Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he liked taking part in different card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really competitive in these card games while playing his father. After graduating from secondary school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little while and headed to New York City to participate in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he played countless hours and do not win most times. He made an effort to get more sleep and focus more on poker.

The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable gamblers would regularly wager against each other. He had access into a few of the greatest players in chess. With their assistance, Howard would hone his strategic thinking abilities. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.

Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest female players the poker arena today. He moved to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and played cash games for the successive 10 years. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
