Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players around the world. While participating in online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
