Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on online poker on Full Tilt.
